Ssireum is a Korean folk wrestling style and traditional national sport of Korea. Fights are always held between two athletes in a small circular sandbox. The aim is to fight using the power of hands, legs and back, to overturn the opponent in the sand, which marks the end of the bout. Ssireum bouts are often long and not very dynamic. Most of the athletes that practice this art are tall and big. There are 4 weight classes in ssireum. Earlier this wrestling style was practiced exclusively by men, but now women wrestle, too.
