BOXING

Savate

Savate (from French; other names: boxe française, French boxing, French kickboxing and French leg wrestling) is the martial art that equally uses both hands and legs while combining elements of the Western boxing and leg strikes. The classical Savate uses hands for defense and strikes are made by the open palm. The modern Savate (French boxing) uses fist strikes and boxing gloves. Leg strikes are made by the feet (ribs, forefeet, soles, heels) and mostly at the lower body that distinguishes it from its modern European (kickboxing) and Asian (Muay thai and Silat) equivalents.
